The bucket elevator is equipped with some protection switches. The protection switches will give early warning of possible accidents, and also to be connected to the central control room for real-time monitoring of the operation of the bucket elevator.

The gearbox can be equipped with auxiliary drive according to the need. When the main motor has an emergency failure or the bucket elevator needs maintenance, the auxiliary drive will start and the bucket will run at slow speed.

Gravity+Spring tensioning device is used in the tail part of the bucket elevator to realize automatic tensioning. Constant tension force can be maintained after one installation adjustment to avoid belt slipping or chain taking off.

The drive pulley of belt bucket elevator can adopt segmented diamond-rubber plate. When the drive pulley wears out, just replace the diamond-rubber plate which reduces the maintenance cost and save repair time.

Schlagel belt and bucket elevator legs compliment our line of handling equipment with performance and quality proven in the industry since 1957. As with all our equipment, we guarantee the performance and quality of these legs and design them for high reliability and low maintenance.

We manufacture standard models in sizes and capacities demonstrated by our years of experience to best fit the needs of most applications. We calculate capacities at water level plus 10% cup fill and use low belt speeds in both single and multiple row cup models.

Larger sizes and models with special features are always available on request to fit your needs. Our engineering department is ready to help you design the right equipment to meet the special needs of your application.

The head section is designed and ruggedly constructed to withstand the torque of drive components, maintain alignment and to aid in maintenance. We fabricate the lower portion from 10 GA steel and the hood from 12 GA steel with a pressure relief door on the top of the leg as a standard feature. We provide standard A.R. steel liners and offer additional optional liners to extend service life (see options page). The head pulley is crowned, lagged and mounted on the head shaft with tapered bushings to eliminate side movement. We select bearings to handle severe service with roller bearings standard on larger sizes and provide jack-bolts under the head shaft bearings on all models to allow ease in field shimming for proper belt tracking.

The standard head section comes with one grated hinged door in the hood section, which can be placed on either side of the head for inspection; most sizes have a pressure relief vent located on top of the hood. There are two rubber plugs that are used to inspect the pulley lagging. Always follow proper lock out tag out procedures before removing any doors or plugs.

Heavy 7 or 10 GA bolted steel construction boot provides a solid base with heavier gauges available (model and application determines material gauge). We include many standard features to insure continued ease in operation and maintenance. Proper belt tension is easily maintained with plated take-up screws and solid brass take-up nuts. Standard crowned boot pulleys are available in either drum or wing style. Cut-outs are located on both up and down sides with a boot pocket installed on the up side and bolted cover plate on the down side as standard. Clean-out doors on both ends of the boots are also standard features.

Most materials should be fed into the up side. Light and bulky materials give better cup fill when fed on the down side. Our up side inlet location insures that material enters the cups at or above the pulley centerline.

Our trunking provides superb dust tight and weather tight protection with continuous jig welded 12 or 10 GA steel construction with heavier gauges available (material gauge depends on model and application). Trunking is standard in 10 foot lengths with alignment ties provided for each joint. All trunking seams are butt welded and end flanges are heavy flat bar so no overlapping metal parts will trap corrosive moisture or product.

Rubber belt with vented plastic cups is standard on Schlagel legs. Special belting such as PVC, high temperature or food grade belt is available on request as are steel cast, or nylon cups in non-vented or other venting patterns. Material type, feeding arrangement, head pulley diameter and belt speed, along with many other more subtle factors, affect the loading and discharge characteristics of bucket elevator cups and the performance of your leg.

Standard drives are shaft mounted gear reducers with backstop. Dual drives are available for very high horse power requirements. When furnished with our legs, drives are complete with sheaves, belts and belt guards. We can also supply motors. Unless otherwise specified, drives are supplied for right hand mounting and Class II service.

In the last few years, we have almost exclusively put up GSI bins because we have had good luck and no issues with the bins. Being in Nebraska where we have strong winds frequently, the stiffness of bins is a determining factor. GSI has designed stiffeners to withstand our high wind well. One common method of elevating elevator buckets is attaching them to a belt. Belt is available in a variety of materials, cover thicknesses and grades selected to meet the specification application. Belt-type bucket elevators can utilize a PVC belt, common in the feed and grain industries, or a rubber belt for the heavy-duty industrial applications.

KWS Manufacturings belt-type bucket elevators include a heavy-duty, abrasion resistant black Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR) belt with covers on both sides. The SBR compound is a synthetic rubber that offers superior abrasion and cracking resistance. The belt has a working temperature of -20F to 225F with heat resistant (HR) belt up to 400F also available. Other belts available include Moderate Oil Resistance (MOR), Mine Safety Health Act (MSHA) approved and Static Conductive (SC) for various applications.

There are various methods and fasteners used to splice or join the two ends of the belt. KWS standard method is the mechanical splice. This clamping style splice minimizes the stresses on the outer plies of the belt that occur as the belt passes around the head and tail pulleys. These splices install and can be removed easily for elevator maintenance.

KWS utilizes a minimum 2 ply 220 PIW with 3/16 thick top cover and a minimum 1/16 thick bottom cover to provide smooth contact surfaces resulting in a long wearing, mildew and rot resistant, low stretch belt.

Bucket elevator is a kind of conveying machine, bucket elevator usually uses a series of buckets which are uniformly fixed to the endless traction chain or belt to continuously lift bulk or broken materials in or near the vertical direction.

The bucket elevator working principle is relatively simple, mainly relying on the bucket hoppers fixed on the chain (belt) to lift the materials flowing evenly into the tail feed port from the tail of the bucket elevator to the head of the bucket elevator uninterruptedly, and then unload the materials from the head outlet to complete the whole lifting process of the materials.

Bucket elevator is widely used in mining, metallurgy, building materials, coal, hydropower and other industries to vertically lift bulk, granular, powdered materials with a diffuse pressure of less than 250 , such as ore, coal, coke, cement, stone sand etc.

Bucket elevators are mainly used for vertical transportation of powdered, granular and bulk materials, which can be divided into many types. The three common bucket elevators include: Link Chain, Plate Chain and Belt Bucket Elevator:

The bucket elevator with chain structure uses quasi-ring chain as traction component, and the connection between buckets is relatively strong. Suitable for conveying powdered, granular and small bulk materials, such as cement, gravel, sand, chemical fertilizer, etc., the temperature of conveying materials can reach 250 .

The plate chain bucket elevator has the advantages of light weight, strong structure, fully sealed shell, low chain speed and no material return. It is suitable for lifting large amount of materials, and the temperature of conveying materials can reach 250 .

The belt bucket elevator adopts a special design, with tear-proof high-strength steel wire rope core belt, with special belt joint and bucket fixture to make the belt can run reliably for a long time. The temperature of ordinary belt material does not exceed 60 , steel rope belt allows up to 80 , heat-resistant belt allows >120 .

The choice of buckets is mainly based on the humidity and viscosity of the material. The shallow bucket is suitable for conveying materials with poor moisture and fluidity, while the deep bucket is suitable for transporting materials with dry and good fluidity.

The traction parts of the bucket elevator is an important part to realize the material lifting, which is generally determined according to the elevation of the user and the temperature of the material.

Belt bucket elevator has higher rotational speed and lower cost, but the strength of the belt is low and the lifting height is not large. On the contrary, chain bucket elevator can lift the materials with larger block size and higher temperature.

The material loading mode of bucket elevator is mainly divided into two types: Cut-Out type and Flow-In type, the choice of both mainly depends on the characteristics and running speed of the materials.

The cut-out type is mainly used for conveying powder, granular and small bulk materials without grinding or semi-grinding, with a high running speed of 0.8-2.0m/s; The flow-in type is used for conveying bulk and grinding materials. The running speed is low and generally does not exceed 1m/s.

The material unloading mode of bucket elevator is divided into centrifugal unloading and gravity unloading, which is selected according to material characteristics, running speed and traction parts types.

Gravity unloading is suitable for transporting bulk and grinding materials, and is suitable for vertical or inclined bucket elevator with continuous arrangement of buckets, the running speed of buckets is about 0.4-0.6m/s.

The installation mode of bucket elevator needs to be based on the on-site conditions of users, and vertical bucket elevators are usually used. The inclined bucket elevator is used only when the vertical bucket elevator can not meet the special requirements, because the supporting device needs to be added when the tilt angle is too large, which makes the structure complicated.
