As I write this review, I have been listening to banging and slamming cabinets above me since 6:30 am. It's a Sunday morning, 9:32 am. the one day I can actually sleep in. But this happens every weekend. Other times the people above me are hammering until 1am. I'm not one to complain, we all have to live here and it's to be expected in a large place like this but I am an respectful person and wouldn't be hammering until 1am on a Tuesday night when people have to work. Anyway, the apartment is beautiful. The floors could use a little reconditioning, I love the size of the bathroom. I think what you get included in your rent is a little pricey but I enjoy living here. The office staff are always accommodating and responsive as are maintenance. The indoor parking is great, and the events that are held here are always nice and you get to know the people around you. The only things I'd like to see would be an outdoor pool for the summer and maybe another spa/indoor pool since they're a little small for the amount of people who live here. And also better insulation for noise. And maybe a small shop where you can buy things since there really isn't a lot around.Read More
The apartment is quite nice; I love the high ceilings and beautiful hard wood floors. Kitchen is big, with granite counter tops, but cheap appliances. The biggest problem is that there is nothing to do in the area. To do almost anything we have to go into Troy. Not an unsafe neighborhood, just boring. Office staff are nice enough, but are disorganized and charge unnecessary fees. Gym is pretty okay as are the pool and the hot tub.
We've lived here for just over two years and at first, it was amazing...now? Well, to be entirely honest, it feels like we're living in a very pricey slum. We face the river and it gets very buggy on this side. I vacuum hundreds of dead gnats off the window sills every morning and we have a lot of spiders that come through the seams in our balcony doors. High ceilings spider problem= unreachable cobwebs. I mentioned the bug issue to maintenance once and they said they knew it was a problem with all of the Riverview apartments. Building itself is beautiful. Maintenance staff (except for one guy who's v. unpleasant) are always friendly and do their best to respond quickly to my requests. Common areas like hallways are usually pretty clean. The pool area is fine and the other communal areas are pretty convenient. Internet connection is pretty spotty but it's a nice little amenity to have automatically included. The dog policy has no restrictions on size/ breed. This is cool but management should be a little more conservative in what types of pet personalities they accept. There are a lot of children and pets living here and aggressive pets (not breed related) are a real safety concern. My neighbor got a dog who has growled at my kid in the elevator, grabbed the dog down the hall and is always muzzled. The garage is BAD NEWS. Firstly, my car's paint job has been destroyed due to rust leaking from the ceiling last year. They closed the garage for a week to repair it but it hasn't stopped. It's pretty disgusting looking. Secondly, last weekend, I was attacked by a bat down there. It chased me down and bit me. Maintenance was sympathetic to the problem but even after spending the entire night in the ER to start the rabies post-exposure treatment (painful and long series of shots), I received a call from a person in the office, letting me know that they'd reassigned me to the other garage and that the property manager would be calling me later that day to discuss things further. Haven't heard from anyone since. This situation should have been a priority for many reasons and more should have been done on the management/ office side of things. Unsure if proper authorities were called or bat was caught. Don't think so. Mentioned bat ordeal to neighbors; one told me that they'd had a bat fly through their apartment and another said that they hear them outside their windows all night. This incident was handled incredibly poorly, esp. bc it's an ongoing issue.Read More
