the best washer and dryer sets of 2021 - reviewed

Buying a new washer and dryer can be a daunting task. Whether you've just moved into a new home, or your old set finally died, it can be hard to know where to start. Typically, you can shop around in one of two ways. Assuming you have a healthy budget, you can buy the best washer and the best dryer separately. If you're looking for a discount, however, you can sometimes bundle the washer and dryer together for a lower price. Buying a set has the additional benefit of getting appliances with a matching aesthetic and user experiencesometimes the two devices can share data with each other, improving their performance. Most people spend the bulk of their time and effort researching the washer, then pick up the matching dryer as an afterthought. While washers (both top-loaders and front-loaders) do have more of an impact on your "laundry day" experience (and a good washer means less work for your dryer and a shorter wash time), you also don't want to get stuck with a bad dryer with a low spin speed and damp clothes for the next decade. We've been testing washers and dryers in our labs for years, resulting in this list of the best washer and dryer sets. At the top of the rankings is the Electrolux EFLS627UTT washer (available at AppliancesConnection for $1,073.10) and matching EFME627UTT dryer (available at Appliances Connection for $1,073.10), which offer unquestioningly great performance. While these Electrolux models reign supreme, the other pairs on this list are also great buys, should you want something different. These are the best washer and dryer sets we tested, ranked in order: Electrolux EFLS627UTT washer & EFME627UTT dryer Electrolux EFLS527UTT washer & EFME527UTT dryer Miele W1 compact washer & T1 compact ventless dryer LG WM3700HWA washer & DLEX3700W dryer LG WM3900HWA washer & DLEX3900W dryer LG WM9000HVA washer & DLEX9000V dryer LG WM3500CW washer & DLE3500W dryer Samsung WF45R6300AV washer & Samsung DVE45R6300V dryer Maytag MHW6630HC washer & Maytag MED6630HC dryer Samsung WF45R6100AW washer & Samsung DVE45R6100C dryer Whirlpool WFW9620HC washer & Whirlpool WED9620HC dryer GE GFW850SPNRS washer & GE GFD85ESPNRS dryer LG WT7900HBA washer & LG DLEX7900BE dryer

The Electrolux EFLS627UTT front-load washer stands as one of the best front-load washers on the market. One reason? It is the world's first washer to have a special place for detergent pods in the drawer, allowing for even distribution of soap. However, this washer also has powerful stain removal and high-efficiency cycles; it managed to do a solid stain-removal job in both the 46-minute-long Normal cycle and the 15-minute-long Quick cycle.

The EFLS627UTT has a stainless steel tub and is chock-full of features and options including Sanitize, Perfect Steam, StainSoak, and Extended Refresh. StainSoak reheats and recirculates the detergent so that it has more time to tackle your really tough stains. Extended Refresh is great for those who can't stick around to immediately get wet laundry into the dryer; it continues to tumble your wet laundry in the washer until you get home. Between the bevy of features and great cleaning performance, it's no surprise that the EFLS627UTT is our favorite washer.

The Electrolux EFME627UTT dryer is great-looking, has simple controls, and is rich with cycles and options, including Perfect Steam, which can help to relax any wrinkles away. Its Quick Dry cycle completes in a mere 15 minutes. Though the Normal cycle is slow, the Heavy cycle takes only an hour. While cycle times may vary, we found that the Normal and Delicates cycles both got our test loads 100% dry, and that temperatures never got hot enough to start damaging clothes. The Electrolux EFME627UTT represents the perfect balance between cycle times and cycle temperatures.

As the counterpart to the stellar Electrolux EFLS627UTT washing machine that has a spot in the detergent drawer for laundry pods, this dryer is another great addition to the Electrolux laundry family. The gas version of this dryer is the Electrolux EFMG627UTT.

Hi there! We're Reviewed's appliance testing team. Between the three of us (Jon Chan, Kyle Hamilton, and Julia MacDougall), we've spent many years testing major appliances including washers, dryers, refrigerators, dishwashers, vacuum cleaners, and robot vacuum cleaners.

We have plenty of experience testing these products in the lab, but we've also used them like normal people would in the course of their daily lives, which means that we have a great sense for what appliances are bargains at their price points, and which appliances have really useful extra features (as opposed to the kitchen-sink approach to features).

With all this in mind, you can feel confident that when we recommend a product, we're giving it our Reviewed stamp of approval, which means two things: firstly, this appliance performs well, and secondly, this appliance is easy to use. We're always reviewing new products, so stay tuned for our reviews and roundups of the latest products in laundry, refrigerators, dishwashers, and vacuum cleaners.

Beyond these performance tests, we also assess the usability of each washing machine, based on what we experience both during testing and more casual use. We want to answer one question: How easy is it to actually use this washing machine? This involves cumulatively assessing the control panel, door, detergent dispenser, and any smart features that are included.

We also assess the usability of each dryer. Our main goal is to get the answer to one question: How easy is it to actually use this dryer? This involves cumulatively assessing the control panel, door, vent, and any smart features that are included.

While it's cheaper to replace just a washer or a dryer when one dies, there are definitely some advantages to buying a laundry pair. First, the products in a laundry pair are designed to work with one another. For instance, if a washing machine does a great job of removing stains from a laundry load, but has a tougher time spinning out all of the water, the dryer can be programmed to anticipate extra-wet clothes and run at temperatures hot enough to remove all of the moisture. This way, you end up with clean, dry clothes after one full laundry cycle. On the other hand, if you pick a washer and a dryer that are unrelated to one another, you could end up with a washer that leaves clothes wet, and a dryer that doesn't know to compensate appropriately.

The Electrolux EFLS527UTT has the same general performance and features as the Electrolux EFLS627UTT washer, including the pod detergent slot. However, it shines in its own right: its Delicates cycle is particularly gentle on your clothes, while the Heavy cycle is among the most effective stain-removing cycles we've ever tested, which is really saying something.

The EFLS527UTT also has a clever feature called StainTreat II, which allows you to select certain wash program options for especially difficult stains like blood and chocolate. Additionally, the cycle times are generally shorter than they are in the Electrolux EFLS627UTT, so if you're short on time, but you still want stellar stain removal, the Electrolux EFLS527UTT is the washer for you. Additional cycle options like Activewear Cycle, Sanitize, and Perfect Steam mean that this washer is worth every penny.

The Electrolux EFME527UTT dryer is great-looking, easy to control, and full of cycles and options. Like the Electrolux EFME627UTT, it has the detergent drawer for laundry pods and Perfect Steam, which is powered by its built-in water heater to maximize hot water temperatures for sanitizing, wrinkle removal, static removal, and odor removal.

Its Quick Dry cycle finishes in a mere 18 minutes, which is a huge selling point. While not every cycle is as short as Quick Dry, each cycle is effective at drying wet clothes without raising the temperature to extremes high enough to damage fabric. If you want both the bells and whistles and the great dryer performance, look no further than the Electrolux EFME527UTT. The gas version of this dryer is the Electrolux EFMG527UTT.

The Miele W1 WWH860 blows most compact washers out of the water. Not only does compact front-load washer satisfy the needs to fit in a laundry closet or tiny home, but it also has innovations that wed normally see on a full-sized flagship model.

What really impressed us was this Mieles versatility. For example, this model comes with TwinDosa feature that utilizes pre-filled detergent and oxygen bleach cartridges to automatically dispense the correct amount of detergent, giving you the optimum clean. Speaking of cleaning, our lab tests show that the Normal cycle (running for 1 hour and 23 minutes) is one of the best in its class. With the Miele W1, high-tech features combined with good-old-fashioned scrubbing makes for a top-notch compact washer.

When it comes to space-saving dryers, the Miele TWI180 WP tops the list. Unlike most compact dryers, the TWI180 WP can plug into any regular 120V outlet and work just fine. It doesnt even need a vent or drain. Instead, all the excess water gets pumped into a drawer in the upper-left corner of the unit, or can be rerouted to go down the drain. While it does require you to empty it out after every cycle, it means this dryer needs no extra infrastructure to run. During testing, the TWI180 WP got laundry more than 96 percent dry on the Normal, Express, and Delicates cycles, all while keeping its internal temperature under 150Fthe point which fabric starts to degrade.

The TWI180 WP also has steam options to eliminate wrinkles, and a system called FragranceDos that keeps your clothes smelling fresh, but not overwhelming them with scents. While it performed well overall, the menus can be tough to navigate, and cycles may take a bit longer than you expect. Even considering its faults, the Miele TWI180 WP is one helluva dryer, compact or otherwise.

We love LG front loader washing machines, and the LG WM3700HWA is one of the reasons why. In addition to its stellar cleaning performance, it's also one of the most water- and energy-efficient washers we've tested. With a dizzying array of features, including an Allergiene cycle that combats pet dander, to the Add Garments button, which allows you to easily pause the cycle and throw in more laundry, it's not surprising that we found this washer to be a people-pleaser.

Even better, the WM3700HWA has a door stop that props the door open after a cycle finishes to help the door gasket dry. This feature may seem minor, but allowing the gasket proper time to dry can prevent mold growth that results in terrible smells. One thing to consider is that the control panel isn't backlit, so to prevent eyestrain, we recommend this washer for well-lit laundry rooms, rather than sparsely-lit basements. That shouldn't be a problem though, since this washer's performance and energy savings mean you'll be dying to show it off to anyone who drops by.

If you want a dryer that gets your clothes dry regardless of the cycle you select, then be sure to check out the LG DLEX3700W. While this dryer runs a bit hot (temperatures max out at about 170F; most dryers tend to stay around 150F), it has a Speed Dry cycle that finishes in 25 minutes, has a clean, streamlined aesthetic, and, best of all, it has steam.

With steam options and cycles like TurboSteam and Steam Fresh, it's easy to quickly refresh musty clothes that you need on short notice or to gently relax wrinkles without needing to spend quality time with a clothes iron. Between its stellar drying performance and steam feature, the LG DLEX3700W will make laundry day a breeze. The gas version of this dryer is the LG DLGX3701W.

Like most of the other LG front-load washers weve tested, the LG WM3900HWA has all of the bells and whistles, including a multitude of cycle customization options, steam cycles and features, the option for a black steel finish, and WiFi connectivity.

In addition to being a solid stain remover, the WM3900HWA also has a blink-and-youll-miss-it Quick Cycle that clocks in at about 17 minutes. Granted, the Heavy cycle does a better job of getting your clothes clean, but if time is short, youll appreciate such a fast Quick cycle. Even better, this washer is very efficient with respect to both water and energy usage. Last but not least, the Delicates cycle is very gentle on your clothes. If you need a washer that is good at a lot of different laundry tasks, the LG WM3900HWA is the washer for you.

There are a lot of reasons to love LG dryers, and the LG DLEX3900W is no different. In additional to all the usual bells and whistles (i.e. cycle time, temperature, and dryness customization options), this dryer gets major points for having multiple steam cycles and options (Turbo Steam, Steam Sanitary, and Steam Fresh), as well as a special Antibacterial cycle for easing your mind after someone in your family has been sick.

This dryer wowed us with its short cycle times and powerful drying. The Quick cycle managed to dry 84% of our test laundry load in 25 minutes, an impressive feat for a cycle that short. The Bulky cycle was equally impressive, and mostly dried a queen size comforter in about an hour. One minor quibble is that the Normal Cycle takes about 90 minutes, and reaches temperatures as hot as 170F. We're on the record as preferring dryers that maintain temperatures below 150F in order to maximize the lifespan of your clothes, but if you're looking for a dryer that's fast and powerful, you can't go wrong with the LG DLEX3900W. The gas version of this dryer is the LG DLGX3901W.

With a steam cycle, a sanitizing wash, and a large capacity 5.2 cu. ft. drum, the giant LG WM9000HVA has a unique, sleek look that will class up a laundry room. Despite knowing that its 29-inch width is 2 inches wider than most other washers, we were impressed by how much this front-load washer could fitand how well it cleaned. The Heavy cycle removed about 81 percent of the stains in our test, which makes it one of the highest performing washers we've ever tested when it comes to stain removal.

If you've got a lot of laundry to do, this LG will make short work of it. Since it's compatible with LG's TwinWash system, you can do two loads at once if you need to. Plus, it boasts both great form and function. LG has cleverly designed this washer to have an angled basin so that it's easier to unload it without having to bend over as much. It also has an extremely quiet operation; not only does it look like a fashion statement in your laundry room, but it won't disrupt conversation in the next room over.

The LG DLEX9000V isn't just gorgeousit works better than most dryers we've tested, and got the laundry in the Normal and Bulky cycles 100% dry. It doesn't come cheap, but it rocks best-in-class features, including steam cycles and a massive capacity: 9.0 cu. ft. Another bonus is FlowSense, which tells you when something is wrong with your ventilation (rather than with the dryer itself). Since dryer fires are a major cause of fires in the home, this awesome feature will really help to put your mind at ease, especially if it's been a while since your dryer vent has been cleaned.

With a veritable cornucopia of wash cycle options and features, this dryer can easily deal with a variety of fabric types and items sizesit has no trouble with big items like comforters, and gets shirts wrinkle-free. Even though it's a big investment, we say its performance justifies the cost, so if you need a powerful yet sleek dryer and have some extra cash on hand, be sure to check out the LG DLEX9000V. The gas version of this dryer is the Electrolux DLGX9001V.

If you want a lot of bang for your buck, then the 4.5-cu.-ft. LG WM3500CW is the front-load washer for you. Like most LG washers, you can customize each part of the cycle, from the timing, to the amount of spin, to the level of soil on your clothes. This washer did stellar in our lab tests; its stain-removal capabilities has it cleaning as well as or better than more expensive washers.

The Cold Wash feature makes it easy for you to save money on your utility bills, and if you're going to be away from home for a while, the Fresh Care feature continues to tumble your clean laundry so that it doesn't sit and get stale in the washer. Last but not least, this washer works with Google Assistant. You could, in fact, turn your washer on with a voice command. The LG WM3500CW packs great cleaning performance and neat features into a relatively small price tag.

The LG DLE3500W is a hot dryer that gets wet laundry fully dry. Between its 7.4-cubic-foot size and its cycle versatility, it'll get you through laundry day faster. With all the basic cycles (no steam here), you can easily customize the care of each load of wet clothes. The Speed cycle finishes up in a mere 25 minutes.

Our main concern about this dryer is its tendency to run very hot, especially on the Normal cycle, which maxed out at 166F (most dryers tend to stay at or below 150F). While that may cause more wear and tear on your clothes in the long run, its not a day-to-day problem and in the meantime, it helps to ensure that the clothes dry well. Happily, you can use the control panel to turn down the cycle temperature, so you can still get rapid drying that won't wear out your clothes. The gas version of this dryer is the LG DLG3501W.

If you want a workhorse front-load washing machine that has fast cycles and is both tough on stains and gentle with delicates, look no further than the Samsung WF45R6300AV. Like most Samsung washing machines, it has a dizzying array of cycles and cycle options, but the ones that stands out the most are the Sanitize cycle, which gets hot enough to kill all sorts of germs and bacteria, and the No Spin option, which is the best and safest choice for delicate clothes like sports gear, lingerie, bathing suits, and blouses.

The WF45R6300AV is no slouch when it comes to stain removal; the Heavy and Normal cycles are among the best cycles we've ever tested in our labs, hands down. The Quick Wash cycle is effective as well, but the best part of the Quick Wash cycle is its short run time of 28 minutes. If you're a big believer in smart home gadgetry and the Internet of Things, this Bixby-enabled washer won't disappoint. You can get alerts on your phone when a cycle finishes, and download a cycle from Samsung's cycle library that matches your exact stain needs. For a washer that gets the job done right the first time and has useful extra features, be sure to check out the Samsung WF45R6300AV.

The Samsung DVE45R6300V dryer doesn't joke around when it comes to getting your clothes dryall of our test laundry loads came out 100% dry for the Normal, Quick, and Delicates cycles, which is no small feat. With this Samsung dryer, total drying is accomplished with longer cycle times (the Normal cycle takes about two hours), and hot drying temperatures (the Quick cycle, which only takes about 30 minutes, reached a max temperature of approximately 175F). Dryers that get hotter than 150F on a regular basis can expedite wear-and-tear on your clothes, so it might be best if you bump down the temperature setting on the control panel.

In addition to great drying performance, this dryer also has a Sanitize cycle, a Wrinkle Prevent feature that keeps tumbling your clothes until you can get them out of the dryer, tons of cycle customization settings and options, and a Heavy cycle that can get everything dry in 47 minutes. Best of all? The DVE45R6300V is Bixby-enabled, which means that if you're a fan of the Samsung smart home ecosystem, you can ask Bixby to do some of the heavy lifting for you when it comes time for laundry day. The gas version of this dryer is the Samsung DVG45R6300V.

Long-time fans of Maytag washing machines wont be disappointed with the Maytag MHW6630HC. In addition to the Normal and Heavy cycles, which both have very strong cleaning performances, this washer also has a speedy, highly effective 13-minute-long Quick cycle.

While our testing indicates that this washer is less gentle with clothes than wed hoped, we think that the MHW6630HC makes up for it with some neat features. You cant go wrong with a steam option, an extended tumble cycle to keep post-wash clothes from clumping and wrinkling, and the Extra Power button, which can help get tough stains out of family-sized loads of laundry. If you need tough stains removed in a short time span, check out the Maytag MHW6630HC front-load washer.

The Maytag MED6630HC dryer is the perfect combination of looks, usability, speed, and power. This Maytag dryer has a sleek, futuristic look that would do any laundry room proud. Because it has a large central dial and a streamlined control panel, its easy to select the cycle thats right for your wet laundry load. If youre looking for steam options, this dryer has two: Steam Refresh and Wrinkle Prevent.

The MED6630HC manages to dry your clothes quickly will without raising the temperature to the point where youd have to worry about heat damage (typically 150F or above). Even better, the test loads in the Normal and Delicates cycles came out 100% dry. For a dryer that gets your clothes dry the first time, with no muss or fuss, check out the Maytag MED6630HC. The gas version of this dryer is the Maytag MGD6630HC.

Theres a lot to like about the Samsung WF45R6100AW washer. Not only does it have an amazing number of cycle options (water temperature, load dirtiness, number of rinses, etc.), but its Heavy cycle is near-perfect, and one of the best stain removing cycles weve ever seen during lab testing. While we found that this washer was a little harder, wear-and-tear-wise, on clothes than we usually prefer, we think that the trade-off with its amazing stain removal ability is worth it.

Like all of the more recent Samsung front-load washers, the WF45R6100AW has one additional feature that youll really appreciate: instead of having one or two specific steam cycles, this washer uses steam cleaning in half of the available cycles, including Normal, Heavy, and Sanitize. If you need a washer to tackle your toughest, dirtiest laundry, the WF45R6100AW wont let you down.

We love the Samsung DVE45R6100C dryer because of its killer Normal cyclewith a cycle time of 51 minutes and its ability to get our test load of wet laundry 100% dry, its one of the most effective Normal cycles weve ever seen. The Normal cycle may run a little hot, with temperatures topping out at 153F, but if youre consistently dealing with large loads of wet laundry, youll appreciate this dryers drying power.

From a design perspective, the DVE45R6100C is one of the first Samsung appliances to have the eagerly-awaited champagne finish. Additional steam (Steam Sanitize and Refresh) cycles and cycle customization options (cycle dryness, temperature, and time) only add to the appeal of this dryer. Between its strong drying performance, good looks, useful cycles/options, and a retail price that wont break the bank, the Samsung DVE45R6100C is a great dryer all around. The gas version of this dryer is the Samsung DVG45R6100C

Younger, tech-savvy families will definitely appreciate the Whirlpool WFW9620HC washer. With its automatic detergent dispenser, touchscreen control panel, and large 5.0-cu.-ft. capacity, youll be able to get a lot of laundry done in very little time. Additionally, for those who want to be able to monitor your laundry without checking on it manually, you can easily start, stop, and track the cycles for this smart washer in the Whirlpool app.

For the most bang for your buck, use the Normal cycle, which did a good job of cleaning our test load, and only took about 40 minutes to finish. While the Quick cycle didnt do as well cleaning-wise, it clocked in at a shockingly short 13 minutes; if you only need to wash a couple of lightly-soiled outfits, this washer will get you out the door in record time. While it still left the clothes a bit damper than we were expecting at the end of the cycle, well, thats what a dryer is for. If you want a washer that does its best to solve common laundry pain points, the Whirlpool WFW9620HC may be the right washer for you.

In the market for a new dryer, but dont want something that looks like it belongs in your grandmas basement? The Whirlpool WED9620HC dryer is one of the sleekest-looking dryers weve tested. This futuristic-looking appliance has no buttons to press or dials to turn; instead, you select your what to wash and how to wash preferences (and steam options like Wrinkle Shield) on a discreet door-mounted touchscreen.

The Normal cycle (i.e. the Regular/Normal cycle) was able to get our test load of laundry 100% dry, but it took about two hours to run. Other cycles are shorter, such as the Regular/Quick cycle (15 minutes) and the Bulky/Normal cycle (43 minutes), but dont get clothes as dry. Fortunately, you can adjust the drying level for each cycle in the menu as needed. Lastly, you can also start, monitor, and stop cycles on this dryer using the Whirlpool app. With its beautiful finish, connectivity, drying performance, and touchscreen, the Whirlpool WED9620HC dryer is definitely a dryer that people with modern tastes will appreciate. The gas version of this dryer is the Whirlpool WGD9620HC.

The GE GFW850SPNRS is a feature-packed, high-performing washing machine that wont break the bank. This washer debuts GEs take on the smelly washing machine problem, which involves a door gasket that incorporates Microban antibacterial materials and a through-door vent system that doubles as a dryer for small laundry loads. With built-in WiFi, a reversible door, a stunning sapphire blue finish, a capacity of 5.0 cu. ft., automatic detergent dispensing, and a steam cycle, this washer is really pushing the envelope when it comes to useful features.

While the features are nice, what you really need in a washer is performance, and this washing machine doesnt disappoint. Its stain removal abilities were strong across the board for the four cycles we tested (Normal, PowerWash, Quick Wash, and Delicates), and it exhibited relatively low wear and tear on our test laundry. Its 21-minute-long Quick Wash cycle will get your laundry clean in the blink of an eye. For a washing machine thats tough on stains and that you wont mind showing off to visitors, check out the GE GFW850SPNRS.

The stylish-looking GE GFD85ESPNRS dryer shouldnt be hidden away in a laundry closetwith its Royal Sapphire finish, it could be just another lovely piece of decor in your home. With this dryers wide range of cycles and options (including PowerSteam cycles, a Sanitize cycle, a Reduce Static option, built-in wi-fi, and Damp Alert) though, youll appreciate its functionality even more than its aesthetics.

While we found that the cycle times on this dryer were relatively long (a Quick cycle clocked in at about an hour), the Normal, Quick, and Delicates cycles all got the laundry load more than 97% dry. Temperatures can run a little bit hot on the Quick and Bulky/Bedding cycles, but as long as youre not using these cycles every day, your clothes wont experience too much wear and tear. For a dryer that looks as good as it dries, check out the GE GFD85ESPNRS dryer. The gas version of this dryer is the GE GFD85GSPNRS.

If you want a workhouse washer that can deal with lots of laundry and lots of different laundry situations, youll want to take a look at the LG WT7900HBA top-loading washer. This washer has a lot of appealing features, including a 5.5-cu.-ft. capacity (most normal washers have a capacity of ~4.8 cu. ft.), an Allergiene cycle (which claims to remove pet dander and dust mites), and seven steam cycles (including Normal, Allergiene, and Sanitary).

Additionally, the cycle times are nice and short. The Normal and Speed Wash cycles both clock in at 30 minutes long. If you really have some serious stains to remove, though, we recommend the Heavy Duty cycle, which performed the best in our stain removal tests, and takes less than two hours to run. While this washer isnt as efficient as some LG front-load washers weve tested, if you like top-load washers and want a larger tub capacity, fast cycle times, and steam cycles, the LG WT7900HBA might be a good fit for you.

We love the LG DLEX7900BE because its effective. Not only did the test loads from all four major cycles (Normal, Speed Dry, Delicates, and Bedding) get more than 80% dry, but the Speed Dry and Delicates cycles are highly effective. The Speed Dry cycle will dry a small load in about 25 minutes, and the Delicates cycle keeps temperatures cooler (around 109F) so as not to damage special fabrics like those found on lingerie and sportswear. While the Normal cycle runs a bit long, as with most LG dryers, you have the option to reduce the cycle time (although there may be a tradeoff with laundry dryness).

Unsurprisingly, this LG dryer is full of neat cycles, cycle options, and features, including an Anti-Bacterial cycle (which gets up to 178F), two steam cycles (Steam Fresh and Steam Sanitary), a steam option (TurboSteam), and Wrinkle Care. Even better, the laundry door can open to the side or downward, giving you flexibility when it comes to popping wet, heavy laundry loads into the dryer without wrenching your back. Basically, whatever wet laundry you can dish out, the LG DLEX7900BE dryer can handle. The gas version of this dryer is the LG DLGX7901BE.

There are a number of features to look out for when buying a washer and dryer made all the more complicated by the fact there are two appliances to take note of, even if it's an all in one. Some features may hold more importance to you than others, but each will provide you with great benefits.

This is often an important feature for families. The bigger the family, the more washing you tend to have at any given time, so having a large drum capacity is obviously convenient. However, don't overfill if you do have a washer dryer all in one, as this can be dangerous when it comes to the drying stage. If you need some guidance to go off when looking at capacity size, a 1kg drum will be able to hold one outfit a 7kg drum can hold up to 35 t-shirts or even a double duvet.

Having a clear and easy to use control panel is essential. If you can't see how much time is left on a cycle, this can be frustrating and if you can't easily understand which function to select, this can be equally as annoying. If you have a washer and dryer combination with a digital display, this can enable you to see exactly what setting your clothes will be washed at. However, you usually get a couple of dials, which have written settings on them. Digital displays tend to be more expensive, but also more efficient.

Having different spin speeds means you can dry your clothes faster and time is of the utmost importance to us all. It also means you can select exactly what setting your type of clothing needs to go on, whether that's a load of whites or delicate underwear. This can be great if you're looking to save energy and select the right cycle for the job.

Some washer and dryers come with pre-set drying times and can also detect with moisture signals, how long a load needs to go on for. This can help with energy efficiency, as well as ensuring the longevity of your clothes so that they're not put in the heat for longer than they need to be.

It's essential that your washer dryer combo doesn't cause your energy bills to sore and it's also important that your carbon footprint is lessened on the environment too. Modern appliances tend to have energy efficiency as their main focus and showcase this in their product descriptions. Look for A-rated appliances and appliances that have a moisture detector in them, so that the cycle ends because the machine can tell the clothes are already dry. Ingenious.

Again, a faster cycle and a faster spin speed mean that your clothes become dryer quicker. This helps to reduce how much time you actually spend doing laundry. If only there was a machine that put clothes away for you as well! Speed for washer dryers is usually measured in revolutions per second and this will appear s RPM on the manufacturer's specifications. If you're after something for a great performance, look for a machine with a RPM of 1,400 or above.

We're not just talking about the size of the drum i.e. the capacity. The larger an appliance, the more space it will take up in your home, which can be frustrating if you don't have that much space. Think about investing in a stackable washer dryer if you're limited with space. There are even manufacturers who make specialist sized appliances, such as an apartment size washer and dryer, which although won't fit in as many clothes or perhaps perform as well as a larger machine, but they're great for individuals who live in an apartment. A compact washer and dryer is ideal for couples or single people, who might not necessarily want to put huge loads on at one time.

We've mentioned some of these previously, but if you're looking for an energy-efficient and smart machine, there are a few smart features that you should look out for. For instance, a dryer that can detect the moisture levels of your clothes, so that when they're dry, the cycle stops. This saves you time and money. LG has created a washer dryer combo that can be hooked up to the WiFi and controlled through your digital assistants, such as Alexa and Google Assistant.

Again, if you're low on space, you'll need to know how stackable your machines are, especially if you're not going for a combination appliance. This means looking at whether the machines are top loading or front loading. You'll also need the appliances to be freestanding in this case and not integrated into your kitchen cabinets.

There are two main types of washer and dryer combination: front load and top load. It's down to personal preference which ones you choose to go for but is usually determined by whether or not you need to stack them in your home to save space.

Most stackable washer and dryers come with the front load feature, as this means they can be placed on top of each other, without any limitations. Many experts suggest that a front loading washer is much more efficient than top loading, as the drum is tilted and water can run out. The washing motion is much more effective and tends to clean clothes better than top loading washing machines. They're also a lot quieter as well, which can be beneficial if you don't have a separate room for your laundry.

Top load washer and dryers are usually cheaper than their front loading counterparts and also tend to damage clothes less, as the spin cycle is not as aggressive. They also tend to have a larger drum capacity, meaning you can fit far more load in it. You can't see inside a top loading washing machine, which can make some individuals nervous, as you can't see what's happening to your clothes. Top load washing machines also don't tend to lock during the cycle, which means you can add clothes throughout if you forget to put something in.

Your washer and dryer combos will come with a warranty, usually between 5 - 7 years depending on the manufacturer. However, most washer and dryer combinations, and stackable washer and dryers, should last for over 10 years, perhaps with some regular maintenance along the way. If you do have a separate washer and dryer, the washing machine will tend to have a shorter life span than the dryer, as you may get more use out of the washing machine.

With proper installation, not overloading the appliances, using the right type and amount of laundry detergent, and cleaning out your lint collector on your dryer, you can rest assured that your appliances will have a long and happy life.

If you're installing your washer and dryer yourself, you'll need a few pieces of equipment to get going. Ensure you measure the space correctly where you plan on installing them so that you know you have enough space. You'll need to bear in mind that there should be a decent enough amount of space behind the appliances so that venting can be attached.

Check the floor is level and stable, as the appliances will need to sit straight to perform well. You should then clean your dryer vent so that you're not attaching a new appliance to a vent that is full of debris and could damage it. Attach the hose from the dryer to the vent. Ensure the hose is as straight as possible, as any bends could mean lint gathers and causes issues further down the line.

You'll also need to make sure your water faucets are near enough by to your washer that those hoses reach, without strain. Make sure you tighten the hoses on to the appropriate faucet (hot or cold) but don't overtighten as this can encourage the water to force through and spring a leak.

Better might not necessarily be the right word. A combination of washer and dryer can tend to be cheaper than buying two separate appliances and they also take up less space. However, separate appliances tend to be able to do their jobs better than a combination. This is because they have more settings and a separate warranty for each. Both appliances are also likely to have their own energy efficiency rating, rather than a mediocre one that a combination of washer and dryer might have. You're also able to do lots of laundry at any one time, which makes separate a great choice for busy and large families.

how to paint a washer and dryer

Henry Ford, when referring to his Model T car, said, "Any customer can have a car painted any color that he wants so long as it is black." Most appliance manufacturers have taken Mr. Ford's sentiment to heart and you can have any color washer and dryer you want as long as it is white, black, stainless steel, or dark grey.

Sure, there have been bursts of color like red or teal blue. And, who can forget the avocado and gold machines of the 1970s? But, in reality, if you want a custom look for your laundry appliances, you are going to have to do-it-yourself.

Beyond adding a pop of color to your laundry room, there are other practical reasons to paint a washer or dryer. Perhaps you've purchased a mismatched pair during a sale or a scratch and dent floor model. Painting the appliances will bring a cohesive look to the room and prevent the scratches from rusting.

Painting a washer and dryer is a bit like painting a car. You can actually take appliances to a body shop and have them do the work. You'll get a hard, professional finish but that can be a bit expensive. So, let's take a look at how to do the work at home.

1. Unplug and empty the appliance of any laundry. If possible, remove it from the laundry room to an open, well-ventilated space. This will prevent mishaps of paint overspray onto your walls and give you room to work. Always place a drop cloth under the machine.

3. With the 400 grit sandpaper, sand all surfaces that will be painted. The purpose is to dull the factory finish so the new paint will stick. You do not need to remove all of the old paint. Follow up with a second sanding with the 600-grit sandpaper.

6. Follow the directions on the can of spray paint and use steady strokes from left to right to paint the machine. Hold the can 12 to 16-inches from the appliance and spray with a steady motion, slightly overlapping each row of paint. Recoat if needed within 30 minutes. If drips occur, allow them to dry and then sand away before touching up the paint.

If you really want to make your washer and dryer one of a kind, add some graphic touches. After applying the base coat and letting it dry completely, you can add hand-painted details like flowers, polka-dots, or whatever design makes you smile.

Even though you constantly remove cleaned clothes from your washer and dryer, both of these appliances have to be periodically cleaned as well. After many loads of laundry, the inside of your washing machine can get built up residues of dirt and detergent, and the inside of the drum can become contaminated with fecal bacteria. The inside of your dryer can also get a buildup of lint, dust and dirt, so a thorough cleaning of your washer and dryer every few months will mean that your clothes will get cleaner.

To clean your washer, start by wiping the top and bottom of the lid off with a damp sponge. Then, remove the soap, bleach, and fabric softener dispensers and the lint trap if your machine has one and rinse them under running water. Finally, add 2 cups of white vinegar to the dispenser and run the empty machine on a hot setting to remove any residue. To clean your dryer, start by vacuuming or wiping down the interior of the drum. For stubborn grime, use an all-purpose cleaner. Then, remove the lint filter and vacuum out as much lint as possible. Finally, detach the dryer lint duct and vacuum that out as well.
